At around 02:55 hrs on 20.08.2026, while conducting night mobile duty under Punjabi More Investigation Centre, Police received reliable information that a group of persons carrying illegal arms and deadly weapons was proceeding from Birbhum towards Punjabi More in a Maruti van with the probable intention of committing dacoity or some other serious offence.

Acting on the intelligence, Raniganj Police Station intercepted a high speed white Maruti Omni Van (WB38K-0123). The four occupants of the vehicle attempted to flee but were immediately chased and apprehended. Upon thorough search, 1 pipe gun (11-inch) with 8 mm live ammunition, 1 iron dagger, 1 iron sword,1 iron rod, Hacksaw with blade, nylon rope and Multiple mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

Two motorcycle-borne associates managed to escape and efforts are on to identify and apprehend them.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of law and further investigation is underway to trace the full network, source of the illegal arms and the intended criminal activity.

ডাকাতির চেষ্টা ব্যর্থ!

২০.০৮.২০২৬ তারিখে রাত আনুমানিক ২:৫৫ মিনিটের সময়, পাঞ্জাবি মোড় ফাঁড়ির অধীনে নৈশকালীন টহল চলাকালীন পুলিশ একটা খবর পায়। খবরে জানা যায়, একদল দুষ্কৃতী অবৈধ আগ্নেয়াস্ত্র ও প্রাণঘাতী অস্ত্রশস্ত্র নিয়ে একটি মারুতি ভ্যানে করে বীরভূম থেকে পাঞ্জাবি মোড়ের দিকে আসছে; তাদের সম্ভাব্য উদ্দেশ্য ছিল ডাকাতি বা অন্য কোনো গুরুতর অপরাধ সংঘটন করা।

এই তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে রানিগঞ্জ থানার পুলিশ দ্রুত পদক্ষেপ নিয়ে দ্রুতগামী একটি সাদা মারুতি অমনি ভ্যানকে (WB38K-0123) আটকায়। গাড়িতে থাকা চারজন ব্যক্তি পালানোর চেষ্টা করলেও পুলিশ তাদের ধাওয়া করে অবিলম্বে ধরে ফেলে। পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খ তল্লাশির পর তাদের কাছ থেকে একটি ১১-ইঞ্চি পাইপ গান (সাথে ৮ এমএম তাজা কার্তুজ), একটি লোহার খঞ্জর, একটি লোহার তলোয়ার, একটি লোহার রড, ব্লেড-সহ হ্যাকস (করাত), নাইলনের দড়ি এবং একাধিক মোবাইল ফোন উদ্ধার করা হয়।

মোটরসাইকেলে থাকা তাদের দুই সহযোগী পালিয়ে যেতে সক্ষম হয়; তাদের শনাক্ত ও গ্রেফতারের চেষ্টা চলছে।

আইনের সংশ্লিষ্ট ধারায় একটি মামলা রুজু করা হয়েছে। অপরাধীদের পুরো চক্র, অবৈধ আগ্নেয়াস্ত্রের উৎস এবং তাদের পরিকল্পিত অপরাধমূলক কর্মকাণ্ডের বিষয়ে বিস্তারিত তথ্য উদঘাটনের জন্য পরবর্তী তদন্ত চলছে।
